About the Op Shops

Drug ARM Op Shops sell second hand clothing, bric a brac, books, accessories and homewares to raise funds to support the counselling, outreach and education missions of the organisation.

The Shop

Drug ARM Op Shops sell second hand clothing, bric a brac, books, accessories and homewares to raise funds to support the counselling, outreach and education missions of the organisation.

Run entirely by volunteers, the Op Shops are a great outlet for people who want to get creative, have fun and make friends.

We operate two Op Shops in Toowoomba and Capalaba.

Overview

As a volunteer in the Op Shop, your main role is to welcome, greet and serve customers in a friendly, proactive and helpful manner.

You may also have an area of interest where you would like to help i.e. in sorting jewellery, categorising books, listing items online for sale, or photography. There are plenty of ways to express yourself and act on your interests in the Op Shop.

Responsibilities

  • Treat fellow volunteers and members of the public with respect and courtesy
  • Maintain a clean and tidy store to ensure safety and comfort for customers and volunteers
  • Receive, sort and price donated goods in line with Op Shop procedures
  • Display and rotate goods for sale in the store as required
  • Package and dispose of unsuitable goods appropriately
  • Operate the register
  • Assist with cash handling in line with relevant Op Shop procedures
  • Report discrepancies and problems to the Op Shop Manager
  • Follow direction as requested by the Op Shop Manager
  • Maintain confidentiality with regards to information relating to the store, customers, procedures and security
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures in order to ensure your own safety and that of others in the workplace
