Our Impact

We all know the impact that a small act of kindness can have. The tiny moments of joy or relief when we are going through a hard time. The person that makes us laugh when we feel like crying. Or simply someone who listens without judgement when we need to be heard.

The truth is that capturing and tracking the full impact of our work can be difficult. But this doesn’t deter us, and from what we do measure we can see that our programs are making a difference. For example, 80% of our alcohol and other drug counselling clients report they have been able to reduce their substance use in the months following treatment – and we think that’s pretty fantastic.

Drug ARM has a developed impact framework that we measure against through surveys and other research tools. Our impact outcomes are:

• We reduce harms from alcohol and other drugs
• We increase wellbeing for individuals
• We increase wellbeing in the community
• We work to reduce stigma around alcohol and other drugs
• We promote the alcohol and other drug workforce

We are happy to report that 96% of clients participating in alcohol and other drug counselling, who responded to our survey, indicated they were satisfied-to-very-satisfied with the treatment they received.

In one year:

• Over 100 Street Outreach Services volunteers during 2000+ hours of patrol will deliver over 7,000 occasions of care to people experiencing homelessness and issues with alcohol and other drugs.
• We will engage with over 2000 families through our individual and group supports.
• We will provide around 8,800 counselling sessions and 3,300 group sessions through our various adult, family and corrective services programs.
• Our library will service a collection of over 5000 resources.
• Our teams will deliver training in schools, workplaces and in community settings.
• Our leaders will be a voice for change at the highest levels of decision making to ensure policies support reductions in alcohol and other drug harms.
