The program provides stepped care clinical support services for individuals addressing addiction and related issues and is a response to the increase in demand for alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment, which may be attributable to increasing methamphetamine use through a needs based and targeted response to changing needs in the community.

Delivered in accordance with Harm Minimisation and the Bio-psychosocial model and Recovery orientation as outlined in the Model of Service, it will support integrated approaches to treatment services and focus on improving care coordination at the local level.

The program will facilitate and support evidence based treatment for clients as well as flexible and stepped care models tailored to individuals need and stage of change. It will promote linkages with the broader health and support services, to better support integrated/coordinated treatment and referral pathways to support clients, promoting quality improvement approaches and support for primary health professionals and specialists through education and training.

Family Support Facilitator - Mackay

The position will facilitate access for general community, and particularly families affected by methamphetamine and other drug use to community services, resources and entitlements.

The position will promote greater industry and public awareness about social issues resulting from ICE and other drug use, through the provision of, education, training, training resources to the families and the broader community, including professional development for service organisations.

Case Worker - Bundaberg

Case Workers will attend defined Community Corrections offices from 9.00am – 5.00pm on agreed days between Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays) and will offer one (1) hour appointments on the designated days. The Objective of the Program is to provide a drug and alcohol counselling delivered in accordance with Harm Minimisation, the Bio-psychosocial model and a Recovery Framework approach. The workers will be required to conduct an initial assessment with the program participants to build rapport, develop a case formulation and treatment plan. Workers will be required to provide regular progress reports to Referring Officers regarding individual offenders (participants) and will engage in conversation pertaining to the same.

Case Worker - Woodford

The Case worker primary role will be group facilitation and they will co-facilitate a range of psycho-education group sessions to persons in custody or under community supervision to address substance use and related issues.

The groups will consist of, short and low intensity groups, moderate intensity groups, and high intensity group programs. They will be required to conduct an initial engagement with program participants to assist to development of rapport and and individual outcomes for the participant. The worker will carry out a pre-enrolment interview and have the participant sign a consent form in relation to engaging in the intervention and their level of participation, and also conduct pre and post testing.

The pre and post testing will align to the intensity of the program being offered. Pre and post testing’s will be conducted with participants to gauge their level of knowledge regarding program content and for short, low and moderate programs, and higher intensity programs completing a psychological assessment as required.
